Our God

WHO IS GOD?

Great question isn’t it? Many people don’t think about God, because they are pretty sure He doesn’t exist. Others don’t think much about Him, because they figure He is too big, and they are too small to ever find Him. What if I were to tell you that God can be found, and you can know Him in a very personal way? Would you want to meet Him?

Fortunately, God has made Himself known to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the express image of the invisible God and was proven to be God’s Son in many incredible ways. If you seriously desire to know God, you need to understand a few reasons why you haven’t known Him before now. Don’t worry; God has explained everything to us through His Word, the BIBLE.

SIN SEPARATES

Just as displeasing behavior separates or breaks our relationships, so our sins have separated us from our Creator. This explains why you have never known the true and living God in a personal way.

“Listen! The Lord is not too weak to save you, and he is not becoming deaf. He can hear you when you call. But there is a problem-your sins have cut you off from God. Because of your sin, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.” Isaiah 59:1,2

WE ARE ALL SINNERS

This simply means that we have ALL missed the mark set by God and fail His approval for our lives.

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

THE PENALTY OF OUR SIN IS DEATH

The Bible teaches us that our sin results in death.

“The wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23)

While we are all familiar with physical death, the Bible teaches of a spiritual death, and unless we are born again, we will be separated from God forever.

“The soul who sins shall die.” Ezekiel 18:4

The Bible refers to spiritual death as something common to everyone.

“Once you were dead, doomed forever because of your many sins. You used to live just like the rest of the world…” Ephesians 2:1,2

SOME GOOD NEWS

Jesus Christ died for us, so we wouldn’t have to stay separated from God forever. It is as if we had been imprisoned on death row waiting for our sentence to be carried out, when all of a sudden God sends His Son to die in our place. That‘s right Jesus dies instead of us, and the jailer lets us go free. We leave as though we had never done anything wrong. Oh, the most incredible difference in this story is that Jesus is raised from the dead three days later proving to us that He really is the true and living God! Why would anyone do something like that for us? Well, you have to read it for yourself!

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, no one is likely to die for a good person, though someone might be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's judgment. For since we were restored to friendship with God by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be delivered from eternal punishment by his life. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God-all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us in making us friends of God. Romans 5:6-11

Would you like to have Jesus Christ as your Savior?

Well, I told you that you could know God. Up until now, you have only learned why YOU are separated from God and how your relationship can be restored. You might be asking, “So what is the next step?” The Bible teaches us that we must ask Jesus to save us from our sins. You see, in any relationship there has to be a desire with both parties. You have been told of God’s desire to have a relationship with you. Now you must tell Him of your desire to have one with Him. (The Bible calls that prayer; it means simply talking with God.)

You can pray something like this, "Dear God, I know I'm a sinner. I now know my sin deserves death. I believe Jesus Christ did die for me and rose from the grave. I trust only Jesus as my Savior.. Thank you for the forgiveness of my sins and the gift of everlasting life.”

If you asked Jesus to be your Savior, I would like to be the first person to congratulate you as a brand new, forgiven, clean, living member of God’s big family. Please contact me and let me know of your decision.
